1. These aren't two four-digit numbers you're looking at. This is a sequence of twelve numbers with the last four missing. You need to find those last four.
--
2. Focus on the central, lighter square on the keypad. There's a logic behind how you go from one number to the next.
--
3. Focus on position on keypad rather than math.
--
4. You reach each new number by going round and round, clockwise.
--
5. It may help if you imagine a pawn on a game board, moving round and round according to some set rules.
--
6. The number you're on is important in determining your next stop. So is the number you were on just before.
--
7. Move from each number to the next by moving clockwise as many steps as the number you're on added to the number where you just were.
--
8. So, starting from the initial 2, if you move clockwise 2 spaces you get to 6. From there, move clockwise 6 + 2 spaces to get to 6 again. From there, move clockwise 6 + 6 spaces to get to 4. From 4, move clockwise 4 + 6 spaces to get to 2. And so on. Continue this pattern until you get four new numbers. These are your code.
